About Dr. Hannah Gilfix
Licensed Psychologist & Practice Owner
Background & Credentials
My career has allowed me to work with clients of all ages — from children to adults — for the past 12 years. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Oberlin College and my Doctoral Degree in School Psychology from the University of South Florida.
I completed my APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the University of South Florida Counseling Center, where I worked primarily with college and graduate students navigating interpersonal conflict, mood disorders, anxiety, identity development, trauma, eating disorders, and school transitions.
My postdoctoral training took place in a group specialty private practice focusing on eating disorders, anxiety, OCD, and trauma. I have also worked at the Veterans Affairs Health Care Center, supporting individuals with chronic pain, and at outpatient medical centers including the Rothman Center for Pediatric Neuropsychiatry and the Silver Child Development Center, providing behavioral family therapy and exposure therapy.
I have completed specialized training in:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) — an evidence-based trauma therapy approved by EMDRIA
Gottman Method Level 1 + 2 — supporting couples to decrease conflict, increase connection, and improve communication
Advanced training in perinatal mental health (Level 1, in progress) through Postpartum Support International (PSI), with a focus on postpartum anxiety and perinatal mood disorders.
I am a professional member of:
International OCD Foundation (IOCDF)
Florida Psychological Association
American Psychological Association
Association for Jewish Psychologists
National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD)
Jewish Therapist Collective
I also served as a support group facilitator with the National Alliance for Eating Disorders. See my recent appearance on ABC Action News, Tampa.
